I have an old pair of speakers and I think that the tweeter needs to be replaced. Sounds still comes out but there is a "buzzing" with high frequency sounds.
The speakers are QLN and the tweeter is 2.5cm. The markings on the back say "Luxor Briljant" 2.5 cm 1458. I can't find any reference to their specifications on the net. How do I go about choosing the correct replacement? Any ideas? Thanks Jack |

Hi,
Thanks for your response. Are you saying that the old capacitors could be the cause of the "buzzing" that I am hearing and that I may be able to solve the problem without replacing the tweeter? That would be great. I think I will try to replace the capacitors before I try to replace the tweeter. Let me know if this is correct. Thanks for you help. Jack |

hello.
if the speakers are not damaged(rent in a cone or so),there is a chance to repair these .i presume there is a np-electrolyt in the signalpath(and not a foilcap). if this doesn't work -there is a great chance the speakers are bad.and the new caps can be used with the new speakers. greetings........... |

Swap the tweeters around first to see where the problem lies before replacing anything. A buzz is usually either from the amplifier or as mjf says, there is something loose. If the coil is damaged you will hear a scratching kind of sound.
