Default Can Ted Jordans Drivers be re-coned?

Hi, I am trying to replace some damaged cones but I am unsure if this can still be done? I have done some searching and I have emailed Ted but both have given me nothing! I am waiting for a response in the trading section but I thought I would ask the question.
I know there are new/better drivers but I would have to replace all of them and this is just not an option unless I win the lottery. I have 8 jx53's and 4 125's mounted in and on a pair of Townsend Glastebury's. It will be a real shame if this is the end of the road for these units and my front end!

I don't think you going to get very far with Ted. I was repairing old 50mm drivers for a friend of mine (cones were separating from the main diaphragm) and asked for an advise for an adhesive. No reply.
I am sorry to say but I think you pretty much screwed.

The cones are spun. It's old technique and not to many people know how it's done. In theory it is possible to produce new cons for J drivers but the reality is, it will take hours and hours to set up the equipment and have exact duplicates made.

Try emailing asking to buy a pair of drivers - that will surely get you a response, then reply with your question. Might work

Cheers guys, your right about Ted, I have had this front end for nearly 10 years, its the only part of my system that I have never wanted to change. I actually spoke to him once and had a couple of mails when I was modding the Glastonburrys. He told me 'time is money' So I dont think he deals with the public anymore, to be honest I would prob be the same, he prob gets so much mail that he wouldnt be able to get anything done. I could get away with getting a couple of second hand jx53's, I am hoping they start to come up for sale since the release of the JR6, I have posted in the trading section. Worst part is Someone used to do this for me for £12 a driver but dont tell Ted! I cant find the company anywere though so and I fear the guy may have sadly passed away.

Quite honestly, this is what I call a bad customer service. A friend of mine was planing on having a commercial line based Jordan's and we run in to the same problem. The other thing was shipping to US.
No realistic time frame what so ever.
I don't see too many commercial manufacturer using Ted's drivers and it appears that they are much more popular in DIY circles, so it is only puzzling as to how individual customers are treated.

I have been in contact with the company that is selling the new drive units, I was suprised that they have emailed me back over the weekend. They have informed me that reconing is not possible but they may offer discount for previous customers. I am waiting to find out just how much this will be, I somehow think it will not be much but I hold out hope. It was probably just aswell your friend did not take the concept further with Ted looking at the current state of affairs....

It would be hard to find better drivers out there. Maybe you can post some pictures on how bad they are? I've been trying to figure out how to smooth out some dented cones that I have as well.

Our cat jumped onto my speaker to attack somthing that was on my PJ screen, unfortunately it didnt make it in one go and clawed through one of the 53's, its now dead.... only kidding, the 53 still works. I have another 53 that 'rings' at a certain frequency so thats not as bad but I do need to replace it. I will try to get a pic up later of the creased 125's the 1812 overture was responsible for, I new I should have paid more attention to that warning on the front cover! I do have spare 125's but the foam at the back has completely disolved, ime not very impressed with this, they are probably about 8 year old.
