Default 3 way speaker sensitivity issue in car.

Hi again,

I want to build a 3 way speaker set for my car using passive XO. Looking through madisound's and parts express' catalog, I decided I'd use 7" seas woofers and 4" seas midranges and LPG tweeters.

The 7" will be mounted in the stock door location , But the 4" mids and tweets will be on fabricated fiberglass pod sitting near the A pilars.

Now I know that this should be in car audio section , But There more people building speakers here than in that section.

Using 8 ohms speaker in car is not an issue for me, But the problem I'm seem to be having is, While I was reading the specs of the drivers, I realized that the 4" mids are a couple of DB less sensitive than the 7" woofers.

Question:

Will the seas drivers still work together properly in car environment even though the mid is less sensitive?

( calling the wisdom of the wise)

Thanks

Hi,
it's more usual to have a bass driver that is less sensitive than the mid and treble drivers.
This arrangement allows the smaller drivers to be padded down to match SPL/frequency response.

IF you need to pad down the bass driver than you will be adding source resistance to the driver and this will alter the driver Q. Research the subject.

Since both the mid and bass are by Seas then it's likely they are specified the same way, but go back and read again there may be a difference that you missed first time around.
