Enlightenment on impedance matching, please

I’m sure this is just greasy kid’s stuff to you guys but could someone please explain to me (or point me at an explanation of) how impedance matching works when using crossovers? I’m OK on a 2 speaker level, but what would the options be if I wanted to drive two 8 ohm speakers and one 8 ohm tweeter using a crossover? Can the crossover be designed to cope with the unequal HF and LF impedances and still give me the desired 4 ohm overall impedance?

Hey "Candle" - don't sweat the 4 ohm 8 ohm thing.

If the low section is 4 ohms, just design the crossover for it. Ditto the high and mid sections. You need to design that part of the crossover for the real impedance of THAT section. That's all.

Final impedance to be flat as possible would be my recommendation.
