I am planning to build a pro studio monitor with the following drivers..
10 inch woofer: http://www.tymphany.com/pl26wr09-08 Tweeter: http://www.wavecor.com/html/tw030wa05_to_08.html TW030WA05 I would like to know what crossover point suits best for this or do u recommend any other tweeter for this? but what about mids? can this 10 inch driver produce better mids? since its for studio monitor the user will be on near to 0 degree axis to the driver... please give your suggestions... |

Hi,
maybe i will be a bit heretical, but have you considered a BG Neo8pdr? You can cross it lower enough (6-800Hz) and, in the "near field" you sure do not need a supertweeter. I have used it with excellent result, a very nice planar and handle a lot of power ! That vifa 10"like low crossover point imho, no possible with a 1-1/4" domes. Just my 2 c. Cheers, Paolo |

You say you want to make a studio monitor.
One of the main requirements is that it can produce large acoustic outputs with low distortion, this driver pair can do this with a crossover in the 1500Hz. region and a lower cut off around 40Hz. with a filter assisted alignment. Ideally the tweeter would be waveguide loaded. More details about your l padded driver are needed. Part of the l pad resistance appears in series with the driver causing qt to increase, this can cause boom, which may or may not be a good thing according to the application. rcw. |

Rhytmdiy, you will have to padd the tweeter, not the woofer You can expect a speaker with 81-82 dB /2,83v/anechoic with full baffle step compensation. cheers, Paolo |
