Default Speaker connected to 2 sources?

The main setup consisting of cd transport – converter – preamp – active x-o – 2 power amps are connected to bi-wired 2 way speakers. Recently, acquired multi-channel digital av receiver which is also capable for bi-wiring. Actually, av-receiver with remote control is very handy for quick listening, morning news etc., so I would like to use it also on the main speakers.

I believe that the best but more complicated solution should be to made kind of switch box which will totally, disconnect output from the main setup and than connect the output from av receiver.

I am wondering, if the speaker wires from both, the main set-up and av receiver are connected parallel to the speaker terminals, provided that only one system is turned on, whether it could be some negative effect or possible damage on the other amp/av-receiver which is turned off.

For a variety if reasons I would NOT do that:
Instead:
Install the appropriate switches to make sure that connection never be established,
Make a DIY switch matrix
or purchase a commercially available A/V switching matrix
