Eton Empire with AMT and "ceramic" housing

Here I will present bit by bit my almost finished new loudspeakers.
They are based on the Intertechnik Eton Empire satelite speakers. The bass-department will follow later.

What is special about my implementation is the use of ceramic tiles on the inside of the MDF housing.

As you can see here, different types of tiles were used:

Then, on the surface of the tiles, a soft paper/wood stuff used under wooden floors for damping, was glued on them:

A construction glue was used for this.

Here the whole thing was waiting for the frontbaffle (made of two 22 mm MDF plates) and the side to be attached.

Here are these frontbaffles. They are 44 mm thick. On the inside they are frased wider for better air-circulation.

The little room in the middle is for the Eton ER4 Air Motion transformer.

And here the baffles are finally fixed:

After fixeing these baffles, the box was filled with cables and damping material (wool), and the sides were attached.

how much do they weigh? i bet the tiles added a lot of mass...? i also bet the walls *really* pass the 'knock' test!

Hi Andrew,

They weigh about 45 Kg a piece.

And yes, they are really dead! No reseonances at al...

This does inflict the sound; less "warmth" because of absence of colouring thruogh housing-resonance. This must then be compensated by the filtering. Yet, the truefull midrange is worth all the trouble.
