harsh query

I have a query about two loudspeakers acquired from different companies.

One speaker is larger and sounds softer than the other speaker.

The smaller speaker produces a very clear but harsh/tinny sound.

So how would one try to fix the smaller speaker, to produce the softer sounds.

Probably design and fit a proper crossover to it.
Not easy witihout measurements and driver info.

Also i don't see a good fit of the words "clear" and "harsh/tinny".

To me harsh and tinny suggest strong colorations which would be the opposite of clear.

But that's just me!
