Should I seal the back of my speakers?

I built the Elsinore speaker project last year and have really been enjoying them. I'm curious though, the back of the speakers are only friction fitted. I can pull on the back of the speaker and take it off to access the crossover etc. Will air be escaping due to this? Would this have an impact on sound? Should I seal it up with caulk? I don't think I'll ever need to get inside the speaker box again...

For best results. the enclosures should be airtight. Is the woofer mounted behind or in front of the baffle? If it's mounted to the front, I wound seal everything with latex or silicone. You may want to do it twice if the wood is porous. Then any access can be made just by taking out the woofer.
