Hello,

I have a pair of 30 year old Tannoy coaxial drivers which I recently bought second hand as is.

It turns out that one of the drivers generates 6 db less output for the same input. The problem follows the magnet assembly when swapped between driver frames.

I have been told that it does occassionally happen that a driver magnet loses some of its strength over time.

There are some companies which specialize in re-magnetizing loudspeakers. The best of them use what is called a "well type" magnetizing instrument.

However, no "well type" instruments are located in Canada, only a "jaw type" magnetizing instrument.

Has anyone successfully re-magnetized their vintage co-axial loudspeaker magnets using a "jaw type" instrument?

Thanks
