Default Altronics 8" on special

http://www.altronics.com.au/index.as...=item&id=C3088

at AUD29.50 pretty cheap, look good in an EBS alignment, Vas a bit on the high side for good WAF, an Isobaric pair give box size less than 30L though...

Hi Peter, if WAF is the major factor then 2 off in sealed boxes seems better, crossing to subs of course.
Haven't heard them but look like your average"generic" Chinese/Taiwanese woofer.

Doesn't look like it'd handle the power required to run EBS, and sealed will give a pretty high -3dB point of about 68hz.

WinISD is suggesting ported with a box around 1 cubic foot, tuned to 35hz will give reasonable response to 41hz or so, so maybe that's the way to go?

(Wait, maybe I've mis-typed a specification somewhere, but for a single driver in a sealed box, I'm getting 19L, and 30L for a single driver in a ported box......where are you getting your large box sizes from?)

At this price those DIYers interested in building Line Array speakers may see their wish come true.

Re: 'where are you getting your large box sizes from?' I was assuming 2 drivers EBS, I get around 114L, & different numbers to you for the other alignments, maybe I mis-typed...
Altronics specs are a bit like Jaycar's, a bit optimistic... the drivers would need to be tested. I'd buy a couple of pairs if I didn't have so many other drivers to deal with already, & I'm getting tired of large cabinets...

Yeah, using the apparently measured specs in the pdf, a Vb = Vas, Fb = Fs EBS looks reasonable, so for two, a ~126.3 L net tuned to ~34.8 Hz and depending on the room/location, tuning as low as 25 Hz may work well. Configured as a MLTL would be even better.

For small, a Pi Align ~18.3 L (36.6 L for dual) tuned to ~45 Hz seems a good choice.
