Question Efficiency method to find VAS

I have been looking at the website for CS Audio's Woofer Tester 2 and they mention measuring VAS by either delta-mass, test box or efficiency method.

Now what could this efficiency method be? Had a go on Google but nothing turned up.

You can also do it with either a vented box or a vented-sealed combination.

I've never heard of an "efficiency method".

Vance Dickason's Loudspeaker Cookbook has an equation for efficiency that includes a "K" constant (varies with Vas units you want to end up with), Fs cubed, Vas and Qes.

The WT manual simply says you can calculate it by re-arranging the eff. formula to solve for Vas - assuming you know the efficiency, Fs, Qes and K factor.
If you run their basic Fx test you will get Fs and Qes. All you need then is to meas. the efficiency or use spec. sheet data and the box vol. you will use.

Thanks. Sounds a bit rubbish, getting a consistent and accurate efficiency measurement isn't going to be that straightforward. I'll stick to using test boxes then.

Might be interesting to do an uncertainty analysis on that method
What value and loading/boundary conditions you use to "measure" your efficiency would have a fair effect on Vas. +/- 3dB will double or halve Vas - I would stick to the test boxes or added mass method....
