Default Box volume newbie

Today I purchased 2 Swanpeaker M5A drivers at my local dealer. I'm planning a 2 way config with some Visaton G35FFL tweeters I have lying around.

Here is the datasheet of the driver: http://www.swanspeaker.com/product/htm/view.asp?id=76

If I plan a non vented box, what volume should it be? 11.2 of 10 L ?

If I plan a vented box, where should I place the vent pipe? What lenght should it be? How wide?

Any recommandations are very welcome.

Usually the volume of the closed box is about half of the vented.
If you make the recommended enclosure (10L vented), use the formula to calculate vent length:
http://www.linearteam.dk/default.asp...ventcalculator
Use the recommended tuning frequency(Fb=50Hz)! The vent diameter should be about 2".
Place the vent to the rear baffle. It should be level with the tweeter.

Here is a similar project: Manganese-14

I've tried vents in different places and always seem to find that the closer they are to the woofer the better they work.

In a closed box, volume is not very critical like it is in a vented box. If you don't feel confident to tune a vented box, then just make it closed. A mistuned vented box can sound bad far easier than the wrong volume of a closed box.

Use a closed box and some subs and you'll be happy. I only use closed boxes.
