Default Is it already hi-fi when...

Hi All,

Testing equipment aside, is a system (source-amp-speakers) already hi-fi when a dog's curiousity is roused when you play back materials that are relevant to him, like wolf howl, cat meowing, etc?

Thanks,

Dexter

No. I've seen all kinds of cats and dogs do this with TV speakers since I was a kid.

Our cat used to do this with animal hospital and similar programs on the TV. Ears would prick up or she would look round. Shes 21 now though and her hearing is pretty bad

I would guess that a full range driver may in fact be the best to fool an animal, just like the drivers used in TVs. The stereo effect will help too.

I was testing a sub once with dual 4" ports. I had no idea that my 6 week old kitten had crawled inside one to take a nap. The cat was fine, the speaker was fine, but I've never heard a sub make quite that noise before or since.

That's a new and inspired definition of High Fidelity.
But, totally irrelevant to humans.

Awww! You had me scared there for a minute.
Glad the kitten was ok.

Wow. I didn't know it was hardly possible for cats to live that long anymore. 16 years is usually about the limit anymore these days.
