I've been contemplating getting some 'real' speakers to listen to in my drom....built in laptop speakers are good only as long as there's money in the beer fund
I was thinking a pair of nearfield OB with Vifa A10CC-07 coaxials from Apexjr. It'd be a cheapo version of this - http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/ha_si_part1_e.html The front baffle would be polystyrene with a supporting wodden structure http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/nuukspot/...speakers2.html I'll be running them off a stereo gainclone which I've lovingly put together with chewing gum and pins My access to tools is rather limited at the moment (sigh: i miss home) As my finances are more geared towards beer fund, this would have to be managed on a shoe string Am I setting off on the right foot? |

I think I'd skip the foam and just use plywood or MDF, or OSB ($10/sheet) if you're really on a budget. Plans like the Visaton NoBox (see Dick Olsher's review for plans) are very easy to make.

Hi NL,
Thanks for the pointers At this point, the Styrofoam is more for letting me experiment with baffle size. I'll make a 'proper' baffle once I'm satisfied with the sound Cheers |
