Default Some intresting questions

Well, I am on half doing my second speakers and have some intresting questions to discuss with you.
First of all...it is 3 way system with 2 Dayton RS225 shielded woofer on side. There is not enough room for crossover so, I can only put it inside of speaker and on the bottom..approx. 20 cm from Daytons magnet. Does it influence crossover performance, when it is so close to magnets?

So, the second thought is how to put woofers on side, there is two different solutions, I have picture also for that to decide.

Please any thoughts for both questions

Hi,

The best place for a crossover with cored inductors is directly
behind the magnets where the field is lowest, if you have to
be near the magnets, and the further away the better.

you should put the crossover outside of the speakers...really!

suitable box mounted on the rear, good also if you wish to make any changes etc!

well..I am not able to put it outside. Not anymore..maybe next project then...I was thinking the same, that the best place is on the botton but outside.
Well, I am using air core inductors..so in this case I should put crossover directly behind magnet?
There is about 30 cm between those two magnets of woofer.

And does anybody have ide for my second question of placing the woofers. Any differences?

So you're mounting the mids / tweets on the front of the cab , with the bass drivers on the side ?

What frequency are you planning to cross at?

Rob.

Hei Robwells...
Thats right, its gonna be mtmww system with 80L cabinet. I have two options right now to consider:
mid: Audax Am 130 or Vifa P13WH
They should be crossed approx 150-200 and tweet is Peerless 921810 and would be crossed 2500-2750.

Sounds OK!

Actually with next project I am looking some better woofer (if Dayton is not very good) for this system. I do not have listen Dayton and cant compare with others...could you suggest me something better (like I asked, if there are..approx. 100-200 dollars for item) that will wotk well together with Vifa and Peerless tweet.
