In several threads recently, various members have run up against the lack of a high quality waveguide that will go low enough to allow a transition to a 12-15" woofer.
I think http://www.wenzelmetalspinning.com/index.asp looks like we could produce a relatively small number of OS waveguides. If you have a better manufacturing prospect, or would be potentially interested in buying one, please let me a note here, so I can estimate the quantity. |

Now, all we need is someone to come up with the perfect profile. Would sure be nice if this could all work out. A cheap alternative to anything else that'll be offered in the near future, if you know what I'm saying. You and I are both definitely on the same page here. I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread with the most interest, and I look forward to the possibility of seeing anything come out of this, or anyone else's ideas and efforts regarding this situation. Regardless of whether or not anything really ends up coming out of this, thanks already for posting this thread.

Thanks! Glad you're on board. Seems everything we need to calculate the profile is linked at the end of the first post here Oblate Spheroid Waveguide - Consolidated Construction Thread
I'll post results when I have some more time to investigate this weekend. For the design, seems like the guide should be relatively thin to minimizing the cost, perhaps with some ridges/rings on the back for reinforcement. In any case, damping with other materials would be cheap. |

From what little I've seen, I never thought that horn went anywhere near low enough for what I'd want to do with it anyway, so I always disregarded it. But then again, what horn's loading and directivity DOES go low enough?.. much less a "waveguide". That's why this thread is here. Anyway, if I'm wrong about the low freq cutoff of that Econo-Waveguide horn, please tell me, as for 10 bucks I'd love to be wrong about that. |

from what I've read the econowave works well in certain situations and seems like a great project, however, I'd aiming for a lower distortion design.

choice is yours ![]() I just thought that will be good to know that solution ; if nothing else , there is also some good reading about several issues common for all Wguides .
