Hi all,
I'm an active guy usually but have just installed a pair of speakers in my car that really need the tweeters attenuated by ~2 - 4 dB. Have found sites that calculate values for the L pad and give an idea of wattage needed, but am having trouble finding suppliers of resistors for xo's. Probably me being stupid but where should I be looking ? Farnell seems expensive, maplins gave no results. I've worked out values for a 4 ohm tweet and a 6 ohm as I'm not sure of my tweets exact impedance. I basically need to order various values and have a play. Cheers, Rob. |

Hi Rob,
Forget the calculations, fit these between your crossover components and tweeter. https://secure.wilmslow-audio.co.uk/...91ee41e503af8e They do a matching knob and mounting tray too. Cheers ......... Graham |

Hi Graham,
Trouble is they're for 8 ohm speakers - my tweeters are car speakers and I'm pretty sure they're 4 ohm. Also the L pads would work out to around £20 delivered and all I need is a few resistors to play with.... Rob. |

This lot do 5w and 10w wire wound resistors and have a good range of values to choose from. |

Thanks Quickshift,
I couldn't work out whether the ones from cricklewood were non inductive so ended up ordering some from here: http://www.audio-components.co.uk/ Cheers, Rob. |

No difference between ceramics and non inductive, just more money IMO.

Hi Ant,
Having never built a passive xo I just went with what I read here: http://ldsg.snippets.org/appdx-er.php Rob. If it's wrong- well it's only cost a couple of pints more..... |
