Hi
I am looking for a pair of compression drivers for altec 811 horns. I would appreciate your recommendations. I am planning on spending less than $400 for a pair. I want to cross them around 1k-1.5k. Thanks very much |

BMS 4550/4552 seem to be highly regarded.

Hi
I will put them high in the list. I have heard many good things about them. I am also thinking about b&c de400. Has anyone tried them yet? Thank you |

Why not pick up a pair of vintage Altec drivers?
In your budget you could get new diaphrams and remagnitized - if you want.

ask over at audiokarma
they use Selenium DH210Ti and 220Ti with great results , on both JBL Wave guide and 811B . you'll find also compensated x-over schematic there ; good to almost 20K now I'm waiting for my WG , 811 I already have ........

That Faital driver is a crazy looking thing. Love the orange phase plug. Or is it "tangerine?"
![]() FWIW, I've used the Selenium 210Ti on the 811 horn and wasn't impressed. But it was a home made adaptor, so maybe that was the problem. Worth another try. Cal Weldon uses Selenium drivers on 811 and 511 horns. And he plays LOUD!

Yes he does and yes he does, thanks Michael
I bought the Seleniums on a recommendation so I have little to compare with but I am happy with the results.
