It appears that this driver offers midrange performance up there with the best Zaph has tested, as well as offering high sensitvity, power handling and a good value price as well. Only thing it's missing is bass extension.... So my question is: what woofer to use to cover the bottom end? I hope to achieve: Similar SPL as midrange, taking at least 3db BS compensation into account. Sealed F3 <= 80hz Low distortion to match mid + SS6600 tweeter Box volume for woofer <35L Cheers |

You will find the B&C 6MD38 is equally competent at a cheaper price.
Go to this website for a new OB based on this midrange. http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthr...8&page=8&pp=35 |

Zaph's results suggest that it's not equally as competent.... (I think?) I'm not worried about the price so much..... AE Lambda TD woofers: seem to have a good reputation, how's the distortion etc. compared to say scan speak 26w etc? Cheers |

I looked at using this driver for a high powered PA application. What impressed me is that the off axis response was pretty flat! and that the overall response had a rising top end but was basically flat over the whole range. a simple filter network could easily level the top end.
Here is a link to my post from 2007 where i looked at using that driver. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showt...31#post1211131 |

I too came to slightly different conclusions when reading Zaph's data, which is why I think he delayed his comments. His comments I would probably agree with if I was planning to pick one of these drivers for a 80hz crossed sub/sat system. But I think the real use for these drivers are as a dedicated mid in a three way, which the B&C looks better for IMO.

As a hifi driver I expect this 6" neo B&C to be even better Also note that this neo version has short ring fore even lower distortion figures Though I like the harmonium surround on the driver tested by Zaph |
