Impressions of Lowther Opus 1 or Audiovector?
I built Lowther Fidelio horns with PM6A's about 5 years ago. Now I think that there is time for something new and hopefully better. I have listen to Hedlund horns as many say that these are very good but I feel that the improvement compared to the Fidelios are not worth the effort, I really would like to build Beauhorn Virtuoso but it is probably impossible to get the plans for those.
I somehow believe that the best speakers for Lowthers are the one designed by Lowther themselves and in order to get a worthwhile upgrade I am looking at either Opus 1 or the Audiovector models.
Impressions of Opus 1 and Audiovector, are any of these a worthwhile upgrade compared to the Fidelio? Suitable elemenst for these speakers, which Lowther model, Alnico, DX type or EX?
Power-amp, DIY OTL with 6C33C
Pre-amp, DIY DC-coupled all tube
TEAC VRDS-T-1 Transport
TEAC D-T-1 D-A converter, (heavily modified)
Transcriptor Skeleton with various cartridges
I like to listen to all kind of music but I really like the Lowthers for the lifelike realism of female vocalists on Jazz recordings.
