Has anyone built this design? Specifically I'm looking to see what the difference is between the 2 way and the sealed 2.5. I know that the ported 2.5 way will go lower, but I was curious if the sealed 2.5 would be worth building. I do not plan on adding a sub at a later date.
Thanks. |

What I recommend is to build this kit on almost same drivers:
http://audiocomponents.nl/speakers/s...f-Mon-SE_3.htm And as stand mound peerless sls 10'' in sealed enclosure + this amplifier for both (in mono mode) http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=A400 It has all needed regulations. I use myself peerless sls 10'' as a sub and I'm very very pleased with it both for music&movie. I recommend to do a linkwitz transform for it, but for newbie it could be difficult. |

I'd prefer Zaph's design to the one in a Dutch website. Based on the xover schematic, the design's xover frequency is much higher than Zaph's 1.7 kHz. The 7" revelator needs to be crossed at 2 kHz or lower for optimal system performance. And the 6600 can handle it with no problem.
And as for 2-way vs 2.5-way, go with 2-way if you don't listen at a very loud volume and don't plan on adding a sub. |

Thanks Jay. Could you comment a little more about why you would go with the 2 way if you were not adding a sub?
Thanks! |

Hi,
A sealed 2.5 way only goes louder than a sealed 2 way, it does not go deeper. Basically no plans for a Sub ? double the box size and go vented. For the 2 way or the 2.5 way. Again the vented 2.5 way only goes louder than the vented 2 way, it does not go deeper. Do not listen loud ? go for the 2-way. /sreten.

I meant exactly what sreten said.
With respect to bass extension, vented 2-way > sealed 2.5-way vented 2-way = vented 2.5-way |
