Hi,

Just wanted to get another set of eyes on my crossover component list before I order.

I have decided to use Jantzen Audio caps and coils and Eagle resistors.

Qty Unit Value DCR Substitue DCR Manf. Type
2 R0 5 ohm Eagle
2 R3 2.5ohm Eagle
2 R12 4 ohm Eagle
2 R19 6 ohm Eagle
2 R22 4 ohm Eagle
2 L2 0.25 mH 0.2 0.22 Jantzen Audio
2 L4 0.5 mH 0.35 0.33 Jantzen Audio
2 L8 0.5 mH 0.35 0.33 Jantzen Audio
2 L11 1.0 mH 0.5 0.48 Jantzen Audio
2 L14 1.8 mH 0.3 0.42 Jantzen Audio
2 L18 0.15 mH 0.1 0.16 Jantzen Audio
2 L21 0.3 mH 0.3 0.26 Jantzen Audio
2 C1-1 3.3 uF Jantzen Audio Superior
2 C1-2 1.0uF Jantzen Audio Superior
2 C6 12.0 uF Or 12.2* Jantzen Audio Crosscap
2 C7 12.0 uF Or 12.2* Jantzen Audio Crosscap
2 C10 100.0 uF Jantzen Audio Crosscap
2 C17 4.7 uF Jantzen Audio Superior
2 C20 80.0 uF 82.uF Jantzen Audio Crosscap

* Using a 10uf and 2.2uf Superior instead of a 12uf Crosscap.

All coils and some caps have minor value changes, how will this effect the sound?

The rule of thumb is as long as the difference in component value (capacitance or inductance/resistance) is within the tolerance - you are fine. After all - you could buy components with a +/-5% tolerance and they may be less accurate than a another component with a 1% change in value but only 2% tolerance.

Personally - I'd go with the crosscaps throughout. It really depends on whether you want to go all out for peace of mind, but Zaph recommends just basic poly capacitors for his designs. I'd guess if he really thought the fancy caps made a difference on a high end design like the ZD5 - he'd recommend it.

David.
