Default 2x Seas L21RNX/P + RS52: Good combination?

Recent scrounging has allowed me to procure three mates for my madisound-special Seas L21RNX/P. I'd like to build a three-way active speaker (probably using a DCX2496) using these woofers plus a Dayton RS52 mid and a Hi-Vi RT1-II speaker.

My question is to whether these would be suitable for use with the RS52. Due to the limited number of channels on the DCX2496, I can't equalize the lower woofer differently for a 3.5-way configuration. Is there a configuration for these woofers that will give me really good off-axis performance (+/- 3db at 40 degrees) crossed over at 600-700hz?

Hi,

I'd suggest a passive c/o RS52 to the HiVi tweeter.
More amplifier channels effective.
Then 3 channels including a 0.5 way channel.

Were that a possibility, I'd use a pair of subs.

Zaphs ZDT3 crosses the RS52 at 800Hz with 2nd order acoustic slopes. I think 600Hz may require steeper slopes, as the RS52 may run out of xmax before the dual P21s. Take a look at his comments on the RS52 on the ZDT3

Cheers,
David.

The DCX2496 will allow 8th-order slopes, so I think that won't be a problem. Many people use the L21s to 1.5khz, so the question is not one of frequency response but dispersion.

How will you be sure that you obtain desired acoustic phase tracking between drivers when you use pre-determined eletrical filter slopes? You will need to perform careful simulations using drivers' frequency responses.
