I'm looking into building a 2-way with the Seas 27TBCD/GB-DXT waveguide tweeter (link) and the SB Acoustics 6" midwoofer (link).
What I'm interested in is how the waveguide loading affects baffle diffraction. I understand the waveguide increases directivity and according to measurements the tweeter would be at least somewhat directive in its whole passband (from 2.5KHz onward). Would I still need a large round over to minimize diffraction? I'd try the baffle diffraction simulator spreadsheet, but I don't have Excel and the macros don't work in OpenOffice. I played around a bit with The Edge, but I'm unsure as to what to use as the driver diameter for the tweeter. The waveguide diameter? |
