Those Philips ones like the AD1720 and AD3725 (just 2 model numbers i happen to know) were mainly for portable record players, so the speaker could fit into the lid, & still make the whole thing reaonably flat & portable. As such, not really hi fi, but still better than some twangy cheap stuff from out east.
The reverse magnet types usually lack an air gap dust seal, so are susceptible to dirt getting into the voice coil area.
Any Philips speaker driver with an "M" after the model number is a high performance (good flat response) model.
