Folks,
Soundwise, how does the 605B compare to the 604E? These will be used in an OB positioned near corners. TIA, -- josé k. |

Hi Jose,
I think you might want to ask over here in the Altec Forum. http://www.hostboard.com/cgi-bin/ult...b/forum/f/3729 |

Hello...
Second try.... so if a partial post shows up.... I apologize in advance.... Anyway.... As I thought I was saying.... the 605 can work well in an OB format... it has a higher Q woofer.... so less roll off than most of the 604 family...including the E. And you can get out of the woofer sooner when using a phase correct crossover approach.... see here: http://home.earthlink.net/~jmarkwart/index.html Some really great info at Jeff's site... I did use a similar crossover with some mods to work with my LSAF OB project in May.... some comments here: http://www.dagogo.com/Events/2008LSAF.html Anyway... the 05 in my opinion is better suited... I have had E's and also still have some 604-8K's... and for OB I prefer the 05.... not quite as dynamic... and the old faux sectorial horn does not reach up as high as the CD horn on the 8K... but to me it sounds more musical.... my $0.02 worth. Best.. John |
