Ive been building some of Tony Gees Hatt Se's, ive got to a point where ive got everything all ready to go except for the woofers (seas W12CY001). Basically adding the cost of these woofers to what ive spent already is not justifiable.
Is their a more cost effective woofer I could use in place of them? or am I too far gone with the project and no choice now. Thanks Ian P.S Yes this was bad planning on my part, but hey its my first go at a bit of diying. |

Don't substitute if you can't account for the differences with measurements and proof redesign of the crossover and tuning, better wait and save. There are good cheaper units but behave differently in many ways.

How did you go with the Hatt-SE's? I'm thinking about building a pair in the near future and would be interested to hear your thoughts.

One could argue overall you would be better off with : http://www.zaphaudio.com/audio-speaker12.html or http://www.rjbaudio.com/Microbe%20SE/microbe%20SE.html /sreten.

Apart from applying veneer to the cabinets they are finished.
I need to stop listening to them long enough to be able to do it ;-) Im on mobile phone internet at the mo so cant go into great detail, i will post all pictures etc when I can. Only thing I will say is they sound awsome once run in. Worth the expense, but only just. |
