Hi,
My friend is looking to install two in-ceiling speakers in a new kitchen/dining room. The budget is £100 (<£50 each). They are to run off a normal amplifier and we just want to get the best possible sound for the money. Any recommendations? Thanks, Simon

A friend has installed a pair of KEF Uni-Q ceiling speakers as surrounds in his lounge and he's happy with them. Not sure if they come in under £100/pair though. Might do as there's no heavy cabinet to factor in.
There's loads of utterly dire ceiling speakers around, the vast majority of them are cobbled together cheapies by companies who haven't the faintest clue about audio (I know as I dealt with one of them on a comission), and their main buyer is shops etc that have even less of a clue.

Hi,
Most cheaper ceiling speakers in the UK are from Skytronic (relabelled) : http://www.skytronic.co.uk/search/in...eiling+speaker http://www.skytronic.co.uk/about/storefinder.php Prices for skytronic stuff seem to be made up, so search for the best price for a particular model, e.g. 952.542 / 952.539 / 952.533 before venturing into your local Skytronic outlet. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pair-of-8-100-...QQcmdZViewItem Typical rebadged by Adastra. The budget you quote is more than you need for the basic stuff and not enough for the serious hifi manafacturers models. |

Thanks very much for the suggestions guys! That Ebay set looks ideal - it won't break the bank and should perform better than the rubbish my friend's mum *was* looking at.... (single 5cm driver etc.)
I should've said it was friend's parents and not he himself really... he'd happily want to go a bit further and get some hi-fi stuck in the ceiling Cheers, Simon
