Default BMS CD/horn and ribbon

Anyone knows the BMS 2" 4591

And the Hivi/Swan RT2-pro

Wonder whether they could mate well ?

Otherwise a Fostex tweeterhorn could be an option, but expencive

The RT tweeters I tested years back were some of the biggest POS that ever hit the market. I have never heard a worse tweeter to be honest.

I am sorry but I think you mean the first RT-Tweeter line (RT-1 etc). The RT-2 Pro and RT-2III are quite good....all right..sometimes there is some quality issues but thats common with chinese made tweeters.

I got fountec ribbons with bad quality.

If your are interested in RT-2II and RT-2 Pro...than maybe look for reviews for the clones from Swans RT-2 Pro , Expolinear RT-7 Pro and others.

They measure quite good. Dont buy the old RT-1 modells. The RT-2 are better.

I think I have settled on a 2way with AE TD15M and B&C DE250 or similar
Problem with a 3way, I dont know where to place the tweeter
But with a 1" to 1.5" CD it may actually work with a supertweeter crossed VERY high

But thanks anyway

Hi again,

take a look at the BMS 4554, an 1.4" driver with very high frequency extension, even compared to many 1" drivers.

The problem with the BMS coax drivers lies in the severe HF distortion due to the narrow phase alignment slots introducing bad compression and bad diaphragm loading. The innovation with the BMS coaxes is wide bandwith and low cutoff, not neccessarily sound quality.

Take a look at this post in a German discussion forum regarding comparative measurements of different 1", 1.4" and coax drivers. Just scroll down for the pictures, and don't miss the animated distorion graphs of 4554 and 4594.

So if your goal is ultimate SPL over wide bandwith, go with the coax.

Oh, and use a horn or waveguide as large as you can afford...
