Panels all done and ready to put this project to bed. Woofers are GRS 15 PF-8 mid is a 6 1/2" buyout from P.E. and tweeters are Goldwood GT-520 soft dome horns. The woofers will be powered by their own 300 w amps and the mids are powered by the L & R channels of the receiver.

Hi, I posted a question on another thread but it seems to have gonne mostly unnoticed. I will try to repeat it shortly here (I know its not the right thread, but OB fans will notice it)
I have eight no name 10" bass drivers, presumably of high-ish qts. I would like to try to build either a Ripole or a Slot loaded open baffle, lile Nelson Pass, but narrower. Did anyone had a chance to hear both? Which way to go?
By the way, here are my current OB's: Eminence Beta 15 + Visaton B200, active crossover, biamped. So now I'like to try other approaches, I want a bit more bass...

8" fullrange Aurel Bryan made by local builder, affordable price $135/pair, suitable for OB with qts 1.3
I cant wait to compare it with Fane 12-200LT with qts 0.6, then I made baffle adaptor for 12" hole.
because this 8" has lower sensitivity compared to Fane, HPF for super tweeter is only using 0.22uF.
how does it sound? well kick drum has more punch, vocal for sure more balance, treble is smooth

What I intended to post was, a three way stack, dual 10" Dayton RSS265HF-4 in a vertical u Frame, a 5.5" Revelator, high qts, in a sealed cabinet, 0.25ft3, and an electrostatic 505 mini panel, actively crossed at 140hertz, and 2000 hertz.
Wasn't able to get the Scanspeak up to speed in open baffle, to match the panels.
Much better bass, distributed left and right, but mono, than left and right, in stereo.
Scanspeak and 505 array sitting on spring footers, stops the light stat panels from walking around during bass heavy playback.
There's a reason Linkwitz puts a bridge over his LX521 bins.

Nothing on the forum that compresses picture, you have to do it at your end. I use PhotoShop (lots of other options, don’t know how many will run on a phone), image size of max 1000 pixels is adequate and once the metadata is stripped out a large file is less than 200 kB.

I have an iPhone 5, but it is not in use, and was only ever used for voice & text (and for text i prefer using the computer which has a real keyboard)

As long as I'm mixing and matching, I fixed a little lack of electrostatic resolution and dispersion, with a sealed back ribbon.
They cross about 10,000 hertz first order, and the amp powering them is actively crossed at 1200 hertz, 4th order.
I did try a dipole BG planar here, but the ribbons have some colouration I prefer. Also added a backfiring dome tweeter, but couldn't hear a difference, and took it out.
I don't have any way to measure these, but they sound less bright than just using a ribbon, at a 3000 hertz crossover, and are lots more resolving, on and off axis.
Quite a lot more complex than the simple setup I hoped would work on the long haul for me, I'd envisioned a U Frame sub with the 505 mini panels sitting on them.
I'm disappointed I couldn't get these to work as all open baffle, but the Revelators just don't sound as good that way, as they do sealed.
Bass, upper mids, and most of the treble are preserved as open back, however.

A little smoother than the ribbons, a neo3 seems as detailed as the Founteks, they just don't "stick out", I always hope for a speaker which is good, full range, never drawing attention to one frequency range, over others.
This is a small improvement, but I can't tell if it's a better tweeter, or a better match with its backless radiation pattern.
