Hi XerXes,

Much too long story.
Been doing loudspeakers for over 50 years now.
Decided , about 8 years ago , to just stop everything else and only do speakers.
I did dac , gainclone tube (pre) amps and so on.
For this moment I have 24 sets os playing speakers.
There is no such thing as the perfect speaker.
So I love them all :)

Since I did the "leonidas-XO" for PureAudioProject ; I found out that OB is my thing to go for.
So mostly listening to my Trio15Neo/Lowther DX3/Leonidas XO set.
I also am working on a tweak to use my XO for a d'Appo setup with Trio 10 drivers.

I do many highschool projects with kids (16-17 age).
So I do about 8 or 10 complete designs every year.

From OB to TL to Br and so on.
I do not have enough time to learn the kids everything about loudspeakers , so often have some proto types for them to listen to so they can copy a set.

This is off topic here , but a few pics will be allowed?

If you need more just ask more specific :)

sinc. Leon

few extra pics.

funny story :

one of the girls said : I wanna build these ! same as my dad !
so we did.
dad came to my place later , he sold his Original Totem Staff and build a set of mine.
Compared them at home decided : my design was more engaging to the music :)

Marky Mark

An Alpair 12P above an Alpair 12PW, actively crossed to a dual 18 inch open baffle bass panel.
Amped with 300B set, push pull EL84, and a plate sub amp, respectively.
Leaving the option for some deeper side wings.
Sorry about the sideways pic, I can't get it to load the same way it's stored in my phone.

Passive biamped Alpair 12P and Eminence beta 15

Never finished but posting anyway. The speakers are Mark Audion Alpair 12Ps in slanted baffles (following experiments on Tolvan's "The Edge") the bass units Eminence Beta 15s with a passive crossover acoustically crossed about 200Hz. The unused tweeters are Dayton AMT 2-4 not used because of harshness I couldn't tweak out and the fact I don't need them now the Alpairs have broken in and my ears are broken out beyond 15K. I've still got some work to do EQing the bass and have lifted the bass volume since the last measurement.

I was just wondering what the bass output pattern was on something like these.. and what would happen if you turned the bass units sideways ie one woofer firing either side of the speaker, with the opening towards the front and the back.

Then use say a 6" hi-eff Beyma + horm tweeter OB above that.

Just thinking that you could then use depth to get the width required for the OB bass, without having to make the speaker all that wide.

comments?

??? Anyone?
