Default Need some help putting these speakers together

I'm currently rebuilding some old column speakers that are going to be used for cheap monitors in the future. They hold 6 speakers in each BUT I'm not wanting to put 6 in each. Maybe a midrange or 2 and a tweeter. The problem now is deciding what speakers to put in.

The cutouts for the speakers are 5.5" wide so a 6" speaker should fit fine (I think thats how it works). Then for the tweeter I can make a plate with a cutout for it that goes over one of the current holes and then for the empty holes I'm going to mount a plate to block it off.

The enclosures around roughly 43in tall and 6in deep but rounded. AKA If you don't understand look at the pictures.

Hi,

IMO you would be better off with a new front baffle.

Speaker hieght indicates an MTM would be a good choice.

http://www.zaphaudio.com/BAMTM.html Sealed is hard to better.

Add a larger base plinth for stability. Also consider lining the cabinet
with some form of mechanical damping material, cheap solid vinyl
flooring material, 2/3 layers contact adhesive, for example.

The acoustic damping stuff you have looks good. You need to check
the internal volume, may be somewhat too small for the BAMTM, but
if you also comphrehensively stuff it, effective volume can > 30%.

Another option might be : http://www.eldamar.net/audio/RS150MTM/
