B&W Matrix 804 tweeter replacement..

Hello..

My friend purchased used 804. But, their tweeter don't work any more because they are old and damaged.

So, he wants to replace something similar or better (if possible).

I am considering to recommend Raven1 or SEAS Millenium.

What tweeter would you recommend for it?

I don't have any experience of 804, so I don't have any clue.

Thanks...

Thank you for your recommendation.

But, he couldn't get replacement because they are quite old.

The importer told him he couldn't do that.

So, he needs new option..

Contact B&W directly. I'll bet a replacement tweeter can be bought.

Doing a tweeter sub will degrade the sound, guaranteed. Doing it properly means a complete crossover rework, not just dropping in some aftermarket tweeter that physically fits into the old space.

The tweeter has the number zz8532
I just replaced my tweeter (or I actually got a repair kit) on my B&W Matrix 805, and the 804 and 805 has the same tweeters. No problem getting a new one. Contact your local B&W dealer for info and prices.
It is also possibe to get a repair kit for the tweeters. It is called ZR8532, It only costs about 25$.

Here is a thread I got from B&W

Please refer to your country distributor, AudioNord, or your local Hi-Fi
Klubben store for spare parts.

I think my tweeter for the one B&W Matrix 805 has gone. It's
almost no sound in it at all. I have measured the Voice Coil resistance to
be 1.4 Ohm on it, and on the other to 4.2 Ohm. I think it may have suffered
from a short circuit or something. I really need some help her. I don't
wanna bring my Dynaudios from the garage and into the living room. Is it
possible to get a spare part for it, or is it tweeters that equals this?
Thinking for instance on SEAS 25TAFN/G H614. It has the same measurements.

The B&W tweeter says ZZ8532 on it.

price hike?

Year 2008 now. I need to fix the tweeter of Matrix 805. Local dealer told me ZR8532 will cost $100, and the whole tweeter unit will cost $200.
