I've just finished a translaminated cabinet build based on one of Zaph's published designs (the 5.5" metal SEAS project).
I've tried to document it well to share some of the mistakes I made along the way. Lots of thanks to Zaph for publishing all of the information that he does - he's been a big help to me and I'm sure many others. Forgive the photos - I'm not a photographer and I really don't want to learn (too much else to do). Peace http://www.accidentalpublicist.com/p...%20Project.htm

I always like the striking visuals of laminated ply layers.
Nice build. |

They look wonderful!
I envy your patience with the jigsaw. I'd go nuts cutting the layers one by one inside and out. |

Yaaiks, that's allot of work! Very professionally done. Good jig for the router. Phenomenal looking pair of speakers, nice job!
For thous who like this look but not prepared to do quite as much machining, zebra wood veneer or a reconstituted zebra veneer will create similar look.

Fantastic woodwork! Probably some notches up in musical information too, due to reduced structural noise VS the original project's simpler cabinet.

Peeps,
Thanks a lot for the feedback. 1) They're not that professionally done - the lines are quite off if you sight them. If anyone does a project like this, use a stable template! Will make a world of difference. Also, add holes in the template so you end up with alignment / clamping holes - would have made short work of getting a perfectly straight cabinet. 2) It's not really that much work if you're doing a bookshelf. When you figure cutting, bracing, and curving a normal cabinet I can't imagine a simpler way than this. Matthew
