I was curious if anyone has looked into what effects removing the rear chamber on a tweeter like the Seas 27 series tweeters would have. The reason I ask is that I would like to use a large format tweeter in the A-pillar in my car but I don't have the depth. There is still enough room to add damping material behind the vented pole piece so it would be like an open baffle of sorts.
I would assume it may lower Fs somewhat and change the Qts but the Fs is already so low, ~500hz for the Seas, that as long as you take into account the new roll-off profile in the crossover I think it should be ok. With a x-over freq of ~2k there will be no concern of over excursion, so what do you think? |

Can you take the chamber off without removing the magnet too? It all looks like one piece to me.

The chamber is just glued to the metal back plate.
I prefer the performance of the seas tweeters and with the low Fs, the ability to crossover low. I also already have a pair. |
