Default Can compare Audax AM130 and AP130

Hei!
I have been looking around some midrange experience with both drivers. I have heard that the old AM is better.
But unfortunately they are not anymore avalible so I I have dilemma:
-should I use a new ones AP series (fe. AP130Z0).
-should I look some other same quality drivers.

I like really good midrange-clear and makes sound in the air, female voice, piano. And what is important, its needs to look nice (visual).

No. They are not the same, in fact. What other ideas do you have? (Do you get them from a US distributor? The flag with a different location confuses me).

Hei Inductor
Well I got them from Italia and also have a opportunity to get those AP-s from US, because I just was living there and will be back soon
By the way, do you remember when we where talking about my 3-way, woofer on side. You suggest me to do high order crossover for woofer but didnt explain why; and teh second thing I need to know is, should I do then for midrange also high order LP crossover?!

If you don't need to locate/position (for more lower frequencies) the woofer (woofer like a sub and a more stepped xover) you can move it arroud in the room. (I don't know the exact frequency but let's say it's under 150/200Hz). Now, people in the business have the tendency to prefer two subs (woofers). You can xover them the way you want but if they are helping with BSC then you don't need your main driver doing this and loosing SPL, so if they are going up in frequency, say to the hundreds, you need to be careful with it's placement/location in vertical aligment with the mains, for better integration (phase/stereo imaging). I think I explained this.

Yes thats for sure. Because in higher freq. its posseble to notice direction of sound. So I will stay max. 300, but maybe I need to go even lower 200-250.
But even in this case should I do high order crossover that you explained? Fe. 3rd or 4th...?!

And what order for Audax midrange then?

Sometimes I am asking same thing many times, to get it clear for me even when we are talking in english

If you ask, no, I would go with second hypothesis. It all depends. (unless it's an active xover, yes). The problem (one of them) in a passive it's the size of the components at lower frequencies.

Did you find a good maindriver (midrange) to replace the AM?

(To understand is good -- ask as many times -- but is also nice to be a little bit polite.)

Well, I am gonna use still those AM, they should be very good, not as good that HM series. I cant see right now better price/quality ratio midranges. I have compared those some Seas, and they sound a lot better-they just fill air with music....

For woofer:2 parallel DaytonRS225

I see, you want to play with the AM, and in a latter date to change with a new main driver with the best quality and for a good price. Interesting. The same is happening with others in this forums, they are looking for (new) drivers, some used in acclaimed speakers, that go out of production or are discontinued. I guess that's because they are not profitable or they get out of good sound technicians (or materials) and good (old?) engineers to praise for their low (high?) price.

I agree...Audax old ones were made by enthusiasts and now the whole company are re-organazied, but they dont produce those older drivers anymore. Only cheap and middle quality...

For my is important also the look...

Maybe I am gonna try Seas Excel magnesium...I am not sure how magnesium sounds..they are excpencive and not good distortion.
