I am curious why high efficiency cone mid tweeters are no longer being used in modern speaker deigns?
There are some very pleasant sounding vintage models that could bridge the gap between a mid-woofer and compression driver, or ribbon up to around 7kHz. Davis is the only company that I know that still manufactures HE cone paper tweeters. A HE four-way speaker with a 15" bass, 10"or 8" mid-woofer, 4" cone mid-tweeter using waveguide, and 1" compression driver using waveguide, or ribbon tweeter seems to be a logical progression. Any thoughts and suggested about speaker designs using cone tweeters that could blend with and keep up with a compression driver or ribbon tweeter? What are your favorite cone mid-tweeters? NW |
