Hi Im interested in building these speakers ; http://www.humblehomemadehifi.com/Modulus.html
Has anyone non here built them or heard them? I will be using 80w valve mono blocks and my room is about 5m by 3.5m., i will probably have to adjust the bass cabinate size as i would like them around 2 ft from the front wall....thanx...James |

Hi,
I asked Tony to design this speaker for my personal set-up using some of my ideas/wishes. Some thoughts: Efficiency isn't on the high side (88dbs) mainly because of the sealed bass enclosure; 80watts are OK but remember the mid-bass has no high-pass thus not a party speaker. 2 feet from rear wall should be OK, Tony voiced the speaker approx in this same way. Adjusting the bass cabinet sizes in what a way? Vb? Sound is caracterized by a low level of colourations for a system using paper drivers mainly because of the chosed types of loadings, a nice "oneness" (Tony's //-series filter fingerprint), good dynamics all around the fr range, an "airy" trebles with some "sparkles" effects (ruban tweeter) and a remarkable "openess" of the imaging. Listening impressions on Tony's website Modulus page are mine. ![]()

Thanks for your reply,i emailed tony and he said the speaker will work in my room without mods to the bass cabinate. It an interesting design.I realy like an open image like electrostatics have but i like a nice tight bass too so these should deliver.Crossovers are going to be rather expensive to buy though.
