Offer for builders far north Illinois (esp. J.Krutke)

I have these speaker cabinets and stands that I made and would like to offer to someone in the area (can't ship). I would prefer to sell them w/o drivers but have 3 of the 4 available having damaged a 7" Usher. tweeters are Usher 9950-20's.

They are bondo covered cabs with a 1 1/8" thick front panel and designed for a removable baffle. The pics show several iterations but currently are the Candy Apple metalflake (Duplicolor) with the faux black marble bases. These things are HEAVY.

I have around 300 hours in these and untold $$ and will offer them for $400 (which comes out to a little less than wages for a new hire in Shanghai).

These cabinets are a challenge. I would love to see these resurrected by someone who knows how to tune and that is why I offer them here.

Mr. Krutke if you're interested I will be happy to offer them to you for free for the help you've given me Latest diy muddy sounding
and others throughout the years. Seeing these on your site with proper components would be good enough for me.

I am in the far NW suburbs of Chicago for viewing and pickup.

Those cabinets are gorgeous. Honestly however, my entire house is filled with speaker cabinets and I really don't need another pair, even as beautiful as these. If they did come into my hands however, The first thing I'd do is fully measure the system, likely redesign the crossover (or tweak as required) then sell them on ebay and likely get more than the $400 you're asking. I've got 6 Excel W15's laying around, maybe I'd drop a couple of those in. The cabinets seem worthy of better drivers than what looks like a Seas standard.

Thanks for the compliments John. I only wish I had your tuning skills.

The Seas drivers you see are not in there currently. I went back to Ushers (love that 9950-20). The 7" could use a bit more breathing room and needed higher decibels before they came into their own.

I have plans to upgrade the drivers on these (see pic) down the line. I made them with std. Seas (yes I painted the phase plugs ;-/ )drivers but would like to sell some of my speakers (house full also) and get into Excels and other higher end drivers on a couple of other sets I have.

They're also prewired inside for a 3-way should I decide to cutout a tweeter hole and put a 4" Vifa in the current tweeter cutout.
Which brings me to a question I've been pondering since I made them.

Which way would you (or anyone reading this) go.... Std. 3-way or premium (Excel) 2-way?

I would go 3-way -- with a small 3" or 4" midrange. I guess "standard" or "excel" is your choice.

Those are awesome. Those last two pics in your first post remind me of Sonus Faber. Nice matching stands too.
