I'm thinking about buying a lap top to run soundeasy from. My desktop is in the house, and most of my measurements would be easier to take in a different location, so I'm considering a laptop.
I like the idea of the MobilePre because it's got my mic pre-amp built in, but a lot of people seem to have problems getting it to play nice with soundeasy. Is that still an ongoing issue or has that been straightened out? If not, what's a good, affordable sound card to consider for taking measurements with Soundeasy on a lap top? Thanks |

I've got a M-Audio transit on order. Results to follow...

Not all laptop USB cards can power it, but I couldn't be happier with my E-MU 0202.

You'll need V14 to run USB cards reliably. I used a Transit for about a year with no problems. Just switched to a Firewire 410.

I bought the USB M Transit. It may work with Windows XP. It does not work with Windows Vista so it sits on the shelf and never gets used.

the e-mu 0404 usb has been measured by a number of people, and it seems to be well liked.

Any of the EMU cards are pretty decent, just avoid Creative etc....

The spdif out only works with asio drivers, so if your software doesn't support asio (rmaa does not), then you cannot use this functionality.
