Just been surfing their sites;
Altronics has its 'PECC' drivers on special, I've used the 8", not bad but the 10" is probably the best bargain... Jaycar has released a new line, tweeter, 5", 6" & 8" all fairly cheap too (not on their driver page yet, look under 'new products') cheers, pete mcK

I was actually looking at them yesterday. There are 2 other tweeters as well. one is mentioned in the current flyer, the other is a titanium (look) 25mm. Also a different ribbon from the one that has been available for a while.
The one mentioned on the "new" pages actually has a clear dome like the original TB tweeter. Interestingly , the one I saw had a cracked face plate, one wonders of the quality !!! As usual with Jaycar, there is basically minimal information available.. no curves, Tweeters don't even mention what the Fs is! How do they expect to make sales !!!! |

What makes it worse is they aren't even selling "Woofer Testers" which would make the refusal to publish data slightly understandable.
Maybe thats why I screamed when my EX threw out all my old catalogues;-0 luckily my new one understands and asks first.

Before buying the Jaycar bargain Foster ribbons have a look at my thread in the Fullrange forum. I disassembled one and posted photos.
Not suitable for line array as I was intending, otherwise make your own decisions what you think they're worth.

I tested one of the response 8" woofers they sold a couple of years back (may be the same ones they still sell now) and they pretty much matched T/S params after breakin.
Are they publishing xmax nowadays? I expect people that buy jaycar do it on the basis of more power handling = better speaker. David. |
