Default jbl E60 northbridge

well they come in to my shop ...actually more than a friend less than a costumer with a pair of E60 for sale .......( looks brand new )

i power them and realize that one tweeter is blown and one woofer creates a strange "gap" noise at certain frequency call my friend back said that tweeter didnt know but woofer some kid touched or pushed with his hand ...... ok story rest for a while ...

then actually swaped units from one to other to get a compelte working speaker then powering it up let me breathless .......

the speakers has a terrible coloured bass especially arround the area 60-100 hz and then there is a serious loss between bass and mid ....like from 180 -400 hz there is almost blank ...... and then again midle is so poor and then again there is a amazing loss of high mid ....the signal is completely missing .......

checked tweeter ( may be sometimes working but half shorted ) removed the tweeter to see and my god !!!!!! the size of the tweeter i s like 3 coins ....... like a cylinder 2 cm diameter and 2.5cm length

i said to my shelf this can work as a super tweeter like for frequency above 6-7 khz but not as a normal tweeter probably in a 4 way speaker .....unless you expect mid range to perform almost 0db up to 7.000 hz .....

i am breathless .....

they are prized something like 900 euros .... but very strange you may find them on ebay for 180 dollars !!!!!!

can they be that crappy ???? and then as a part of home theater syatem will the absense of low mid and high mid will be covered by the other 5+1 speakers ?????

and what if someone use them for music ?????? compaired to a pair of jbl tlx 20 i have in my shop they are so terrible you dont belive it !!!!!

any opinions are very welcome

Measure them.

Sounds like they've been somewhat abused....

Default well...

havent mesured anything yet ....just listening ......

i will do but seems that everything works just fine .... no obvious sine of abuse ...xovers are clean ..... resistance with in limits at all units .....

still i dont belive that a 1cm tweeter can perform at 90-175w recomened power .... un less is made of space material ....

thank you very much regarding the information on jbl tlx 20 and by pass caps .....

never seen that before ......

i wish you were just next door to be able to listen the diference between E60 and tlx 20...

a joke !!!!!!

thank you sir
