I am looking for a good design for my first DIY speaker.
My requirements are : moniter/bookshelf size 2 way I could go 3 way, but I'll try and avoid it front port simple crossover 4-8 ohms under $200 a pair low cost drivers I am going for value here. If anyone could post a link or give suggestions it would be great! Thanks, spacejunk |

Thanks for the reply. Those look good but I think I want drivers that are a little better...

Well, what exactly is included in the $200 cost? Are the cabinets in there as well or is it just for drivers? Crossover parts?

Sorry, I should be more specific.
All the parts included are crossovers and speakers, nothing else. I can build the cabinets out of material I have. Pre made crossovers would be nice, but I can build them. |

Can you spring for the Zaph SR71? You can get it at Madisound as a kit with pre-built crossovers and no cabinets for ~$330 + S/H. From what I've read it is a phenomenal loudspeaker and can compete with commercial speakers in very high price categories.

Well, I have to agree with that. Disregard the driver prices when you take a look at Zaph's article. In fact, just go look at the measurements. The mini monitors I talked about are certainly money well spent.

Hi, Above might come in around the budget. the Metal tweeter version has a simpler crossover, very high bang for the buck. Though I suspect the best BFB if a subwoofer is not used in the floorstanding version of the BAMTM, a lot of speaker for $200. http://www.zaphaudio.com/BAMTM.html |
