What ever happened to the Madison Executioner X21? You can get to the 'drivers' page on their server through a Google search, but it's no longer listed on their current website. In fact, they no longer have any drivers listed at all. Anyone have any idea what's up with that? I'm actually considering calling them on Monday and asking about it.

Magnetar..Would you still happen to have those X21 woofers you used to have in those large OB's like 1-2 years ago? If so, would you ever consider selling them? I attempted to email you instead, but it said you weren't accepting them.. no big deal. Anyway, On another note..

Looks just like the Executioner X21's, no? However, you'll notice how it states the use of a 120 ounce magnet, whereas I believe Madison stated a 200 ounce magnet. As for who's lying the most, who knows? Regardless, I'd like to know just how much these TP woofers appear to resemble the Madison X21's.

So, Magnetar, or anyone else who has owned the Madison Executioner X21's.. Can you take a look at these photos of the 'Technical Pro Z-21' woofers above and tell me how much they appear to resemble the X21's? Take a close look at the 2nd pic below, and tell me the similarity of the magnet structure? What do you think?..

I'm wondering if they'd come with the ugly TP logo stamped on the dustcap. Hopefully not. I'll try to email the seller and ask, although I won't be the least bit surprised if I don't get a response, or if the seller doesn't have a clue. Oh well, worth a try anyway I guess.

Thanks a bunch! :)

Hello, My email here was going to the wrong addy for a long time. I have fixed it!

I sold the 21's on ebay - (someone stole them) I like the 10" warriors a little better but you have to use a lot of them. The tens sound better in the upper bass/low mid but aren't really usable below 60 Hz do to the resonance being high. The must be high passed.

The price is good on the Technical Pro but the magnet seems smaller and the voice coil appears smaller. That should be fine if you plan on using them on an open baffle. I doubt the sensitivity is 102db, probably 94 or so. A pair a channel should be excellent on a baffle. Maybe buy one and try it first? I might get some myself to mate with my 15" coaxials...... If you don't like the dustcap just cut it out with a razor and glue in your own dustcap.

Yeah, shortly after posting this thread, I found an old pic on the net of the X21, and noticed the size differences. And yeah, tell me about it.. it's like these cheap manufacturers (or whoever) just pulls numbers out of their @$$ or something, lol. A while back, I remember reading someone stating somewhere around 92 dB, and then 89.5 dB or something somewhere else. Regardless, the spec is WAY off, as we both know. In fact, I found an old thread on another forum recently with someone who posted their results with a Woofer Tester II. They were all pretty off, and both drivers weren't exactly equal either.

After noticing what seemed to be a smaller magnet in the photos, I started thinking the same thing.. it might not hurt for an OB. There's no T/S parameters for these woofers anywhere, so I guess ya just buy 'em and hope for the best.. which often seems to be the case with woofers like these anyway, even when specs are provided. The main thing I wonder, along with everything else.. is how much Xmax has been decreased versus the Madison driver. Also, if you look at that one photo of the cardboard box that the woofer comes in, the drawing on the side looks more like the Madison driver (much larger magnet).

Anyway.. one thing in your post that caught my attention the most.. what 15" coax are you using?
And funny how you say that, as that's exactly what I'd be doing with these 21 inchers.. mating them with a coax. :D
I've been planning on starting out with trying the Radian 512/2B for OB reasons, and mainly because I can't build an xo (I'd use Radian's passive xo until I could build my own).. but I don't like the stamped frame.

My room is much smaller than yours (about 12 feet wide by 14.5 feet deep to be exact). My interest in trying OB is mainly due to the more directional low frequencies due to the dipole radiation, which I always thought would help a great deal with all the room modes and deep nulls, especially in smaller rooms. I'm also used to dipole planars, so monopoles sound a bit fake and boring and boxy to me. I think I've given up on subwoofers for a while, and want to try just getting down to a solid 30 Hz or so (with EQ, of course), and running this pair of ButtKickers I've had for so long and have yet to use. I currently have 2 pairs of the Pyle PPA15 woofers in some W-U baffles, but I don't think it's for me...especially if I want to run them up to 120-150ish+ Hz or so for the OB coaxials. It sounds muddy and hollow. So, I want to also try a driver that's better suited to a flat baffle, with perhaps just a few inches of a U frame on the back..and the woofer I choose also has to have the balls to get down to around 30Hz or lower with a reasonable amount of EQ. So, that's what's goin' on right now. Just thought I'd share. ;)

Thanks again for your time. :)

I have some PAS 15" coax with a 2" entrance horn that I'm itching to get up and running. I have some 22" diameter spheres they will go in first but I'm thinking it will lack the low end authority I crave.

I could build a board with the 15 in the center and six tens around it in a circle, like a super Quad 63 (electrostatic point source) - Crossover around 120 -200 to the 15 and around 800 to the large format compression driver.

I recommend getting one of the 21's first and trying it on a large flat baffle. Then you'll know if it's worth spending the bucks for more of them.15 coaxes - more on ebay

Built these 'MagnaRock' monitors for my friend using the 1" PAS 15's - Every time I go over to his place they impress me lots. They use a 15 and an 18 for low end reenforcement.

hey Magnetar - what reasonable dimensions would you figure could work for one 21" klam-dipole vs U baffle and not be "too big"? If you get time, come discuss Rosie and dipole klams over at the new Karlson forum Happy New Year, Freddy

New Karlson forum http://gainclone.com/Karlson/index.php?board=1.0

ps - I think by "sealed klam" in another post you meant "not dipole" - but Rosie with rear chamber which vents into the front (?) for awhile I thought that might mean sealed rear chamber variety klam

Hey Freddy, KOOL, I will gather my notes (they are around here somewhere) and join you over there

Happy New Year!
