Hi Tom
what are the possibly excursion of annular diaphragms?
and annular diaphragm area seems less than dome (for equal coil diameter)
For equal coil diameter, the ring radiator diaphragm has a larger surface area than a conventional dome. This is because there is diaphragm inside and outside the voice coil.
only reasonable choices are:
BMS 4540ND
B&C DE250
Beyma CP380M

There are music clips in the post that allow you to hear the drivers at differing levels from "home listening" to "rock and roll" volume.
The old EV DH1A was the best driver in the test for music in terms of dynamic range, lowest distortion, and also was among the smoothest frequency responses.
The EV DH1A has a 1.4" to 2" "snout" that can be removed (heat the screws to soften the thread lock compound) for use on 1.4" horns.
The only negative features of the EV DH1A are it's size and weight. The EV N/DYM 1 eliminates those two problems, and has a slightly smoother frequency response too.
