Searching for Leaks (aka !@#$)

I just plugged in my new speakers for the first time (They're lovely!) and cranked them with some nice, bass-heavy trance, only to discover that there is an air leak someplace, and it's causing the box members to resonate in a most horrible manner... think of pieces of plywood vibrating against each other with every bass note... UGH IT'S HORRIBLE I HATE IT AND I'M TEMPTED TO TAKE A HAMMER TO THE BOX!! HELP ME!!!

So, um, how would you guys reccomend tracking down the air leak and suppressing it?

Run a large sine wave at a pretty low frequency. You can then use wetted lips moved around close to all the cabinet junctions to locate the leak. If you're inhibited about using wet lips, a stethoscope or something improvised like one will also work.

What are wet lips? I'm not really worried about damaging anything... these are very sturdy boxes...

Lick your lips. That will wet them. Wet lips are exquisitely sensitive to air motion.

How about "remove the largest driver, stick your arm in with a small tube of silicone caulk and add a "fillet" (more caulk) to all the joints you can reach."

SY- Dated a girl while at UTE, she didn't like wet lips either, come to think of it, prolly wouldn't say the work "caulk" either... A "Tri-Delt" as I recall....

Wierd experiences indeed. I ran away. But godesses certainly to be seen. It wasn't just "Gravity Hill" that seemed to be upside down for this Clarkson hockey fan. :^)

Okay I'm lost. This thread is now officially useless.

I did get the leak fixed; it was just a matter of adding extra screws to the removeable face of the box, and making a sort of gasket out of craft foam, that makes a very nice airtight seal when the box is screwed shut.
