Hello all,
I bought a pair of Adire 281's a couple years ago and then had a couple kids so time has been a precious commodity At any rate, I'm in the process of building them now and have been able to find the cabinet plans, but not the crossover schematic. I remember reading on here a lot when I was considering the 281's and there were quite a few 281 builders at the time. I was hoping someone kept an electronic copy of the schematic????Thanks in advance, Russell |

I think I have a paper copy in the workshop. I always wanted to build a set of those and go figure. Their out of business now.

I may have something archived. I'll take a look and let you know.

Thanks all,
I actually just received a reply from Adire. I had sent them an email a few days ago and they sent the crossover schematic to me about an hour after I posted I do have a question about it though. As I recall there was a tweeter polarity issue early on. The schematic shows the tweeter wired out of polarity (+ amp to - tweet). Does that seem right? I'm going to try to attach the pdf. Thanks, Russell |

Yes, the polarity is correct. Wire your speakers as per the drawing.
The woofer has a 2nd order filter, and the tweeter has a 4th order filter. The 2nd order filter will have a 180 degree phase shift, and the 4th order will have a 360 degree phase shift. So the tweeter is wired backwards for phase alignment. |

Hi,
I've no idea what 1.2R and 3.6uF is doing wired across the tweeter, all I can say it is an extremely poor load at high frequencies and IMO will lead to expiry (depending on its protection) of some amplifiers. /sreten.

You mean the 1.3R and the 33.6uF? Looks like a Zobel to me, though I haven't done any simulations to see just how it affects impedance.

Hi, Its C3 and 3.6uF I assume. 33.6uF capacitors do not exist so it is a nonsense value and if taken literally would quickly be terminal for most amplifiers. 1.3R is too low for a zobel. /sreten.
