Default DIY driver - estimating Le

Hello all!

I want to build a driver and I donīt know how to estimate the voice coil inductance. I guess the inductance goes up a lot when the coil is sitting in the air gap.
And how do I calculate the impedance curve when I have Le?

Regards,
Oliver

Hi

It is necessary to measure the impedance plot directly so-as it comprises already the information about Le. But not on the contrary.

It would be nice to estimate the impedance rise before winding the coil.

Meanwhile I think the impedance rise is not the most important point when I want to estimate the treble extension. All pistonic drivers seem to have a sudden 20dB rolloff, even those with neglectable voice coil inductance. Does anybody know the formula to calculate this cutoff frequency? I hope this formula doesnīt contain Rms, since this is impossible for me to estimate.
