I found a pair of these old duplex in two ruined cabinet, original bass-reflex encloser.
The speakers have been recently re-foamed. Have You ever heard them? Are they audiophile? They worth some money for the seller and other money for the wood the cabinet I should rebuild? Bass reflex is the best chioce for these? Kind regards, Domenico |

Greets!
Every 409 I've seen had a prosound type accordion surround, so don't know how it affects performance, but the originals are ceiling PA drivers that EV is still selling as the 409-8E AFAIK, so depending on the price you may be better off just buying new: http://www.electrovoice.com/download...t.php?doc=1231 Anyway, no ceiling driver is going to be truly 'audiophile', especially without some tweaking (fine tuning), but they're one of the better ~inexpensive co-ax units IMO. WRT alignment type, I prefer either OB with helper woofer or TL for high Qts units. GM

Oops! Had I bothered to even look at my own 'library' I would have known, saving me typing time.

I was of course directing that toward the original poster. Your mind? Strong like ox, long like elephant. |

I figured it was addressed to both of us and well justified to boot! 'Senior moments' are increasingly becoming a 'way of life' for me.
Oh well, just one of the prices we pay for trying to cheat the Grim Reaper.

I've searched but no one of the pasts threads talk about the 409b, and no one about their quality or the encloser typology they suit.
